THE WIFE

OK, the first date was on February 17th, 1970, and oddly enough, I was not sure of her name. This is not surprising given my difficulty in paying attention. I did know she was short, perky, and cute. After the first date I knew she was the woman, and I knew I was in a lot of trouble.
My wife is loving, loyal, supportive, attentive, and obviously my best friend. Despite my many stupid decisions, she never criticizes, and she is considerate of my moods and desires.
I spent almost twenty-nine years in police work, and half of those years were on shift work. She never complained about shift work, and always loved my work.
I made a date with her while working midnights, and this I confess is an obvious violations of department rules. I talked to her and asked her out, and of course she accepted the date. Oddly enough, as I was driving away in my police unit, she then announced she was divorced with two kids. Being an airborne ranger qualified MP officer, I could not back down, and went ahead with the date with some reservations.
She even accepts the fact that the woman of my dreams is Raquel Welch. Raquel Welch has to be one of the nicest and most beautiful women in the world. I told her if Raquel comes for me, hopefully in a Jaguar, I am gone. My wife even said she understood perfectly.
What more could I want in a wife? Well, maybe taller with money?
